About the Walk to Emmaus

The Walk to Emmaus is a spiritual renewal program intended to strengthen the local church through the development of Christian disciples and leaders. The program’s approach seriously considers the model of Christ’s servanthood and encourages Christ’s disciples to act in ways appropriate to being “a servant of all.

We need your help!

A Birmingham Emmaus Community core value is to make the Walk to Emmaus affordable to as many people as possible.  However, rising prices have been a fact of life. We have tried to keep the charged to each pilgrim as low as possible. But even at $200 for each Pilgrim that Walks, we just cover the cost of lodging, meals and supplies for each pilgrim and the Upper Room one-time assessment of $25 for each new pilgrim.

In addition to the expense of four walks per year, the community also pays for liability insurance, licensing fees and the costs of supplies not donated by the community. Also, if funds are available, we would like to be able to assist those pilgrims who need help with the $200 registration fee.

The board is asking each member in the community for financial support.  Of course, fund-raising efforts will continue. However, your direct support can make a difference for every pilgrim’s experience.

If every member contributes $20, we can cover our 2023 operating costs.  We know that some may not be able to give $20, while others are able to give more, so we ask that you please give as you are able.
